Gallary House

The Challenge
A substantial foundation system existed from a recently razed house that was incompatible with a plan that reflected the client’s passion for Mediterranean architecture. Additionally the client was an artist who not only needed a home studio but desired to display an art collection within the house.

The Result
A link between the spaces built over the existing foundation and the new foundation became the solution. Conceptually that link took the form of a curved gallery which also provided an uninterrupted display space from which all main spaces are connected from one end of the house to the other. On the waterfront side, main spaces open up to covered patios or terraces on the second floor.
